Photos, Slides & Negatives - Conversion Questions

Yes indeed. We will always attempt to scan and return the photos in the same order although from time to time there may be an image out of place. This is sometimes the case where we are required to scan in a certain order according the type of media to get the best results for you. Any photographs provided to us in folders or boxes will be invariably returned in the same container.

Just let us know beforehand that you require this at checkout stage in the comment section and make in clear the number sequence please. We’ll always call you with any questions!
The great thing is that once we’ve converted your images to digital, it’s so easy to have fun organising and editing them. Commonly, customers will want to create their own slideshows, add titles, music, make images lighter, sharper, darker, more saturated etc etc. All of this is made possible by us digitalising them first. You can also of course upload them to social media sites.

In addition, we handle disc film and APS films. Common print brands we are handle – Kodak, Fuji, Agfa, Boots, Ilford & more. Whatever the brand, we’re used to handling them.
Please ensure that your photos do not have sticky blu-tack, sellotape, staples on the back where possible as this may cause problems during scanning and affect your material moreover.

The good thing is that we’ve made life really simple for you at Supaphoto!
We just ask you to count the total tapes that you have really.

Each item is for a specific quantity of items — an item can be either a single video or audio tape, a single cine or audio reel or 25 photos. So if you have one VHS tape, one audio tape and 25 photos – then you have 3 items in total – Could not be easier!

Our standard item costing will cover the vast majority of people needs: Within this service the photo formats we accept are 35mm mounted slides, 126 mounted slides, 35mm negative frames and photographic prints up to 6” x 8”. Please be aware that negatives must be sent in strips (minimum 4 frames per strip). Unfortunately, we cannot process individual negative frames that have been cut out of film rolls. Each image on a negative strip will count as a single photo.

Sometimes but rarely, prints or slides may be larger or fall outside of our standard item costing structure. In this case, to maintain our levels of service, a small additional charge will be incurred and you will be notified.

In the case of photos, your images will be invariably be scanned well enough not to require any colour correction. Again, our goal is to scan them as faithfully as possible. Within the price we can also improve sharpness, fix contrast and lift colours where requested.

There are very few photos that we cannot scan although some may incur an additional charge where a different process is required to get best results:
If you are unsure, just contact us or include them in your package anyway. rest assured that we won’t charge a penny for anything that cannot be scanned.

Good question! We’d use several different processes to scan your images and it would depend on what scanning method is best really and any minimum DPI norms they must meet but typically:

Slides: 2400 DPI JPEG
Photo Prints: 600 DPI (Or often higher in the case of smaller images – don’t worry we’ll let you know on receipt ) JPEG
Negatives: 2400 DPI JPEG
See here for an example of one our scanned slides

Yes of course. Many people ask for each box of slides to be scanned and saved into different folders. We’ll ensure that reference number on the case relates to the digital folder. If this is what you’d like, then please request it in the order comment section during checkout or contact us. Just remember to clearly separate them into groups beforehand with a label that makes it clear the difference between groups
